New pumping station De Pannerling is ready

Vislift
The Linge has received a brand new pump station at Doornenburg: the Pannerling. The new pump station has 50% more capacity than the old Pannerling. This is important for water management in the region; during threatening flooding and in times of drought. The pump station also features a Vislift, the largest in the Netherlands.
360 m³ of water per minute
The old Pannerling was a floating pump with a capacity of 240 m³ per minute. Thanks to the capacity of 360 m³ per minute of the new, fixed pump, Waterschap Rivierenland can bring more water into the area during droughts. The water supports the Linge, wet nature areas, agriculture, and recreation throughout the Betuwe. Due to the new construction, the water authority can supply water for a longer time even when the river level is low without adding extra pumps.
Largest Vislift in the Netherlands
The new pump has a Vislift allowing fish to move safely. This contributes to biodiversity in the region. The installed Vislift is the largest Vislift in the Netherlands.
Together for a sustainable future
The new pump helps to manage drought and waterlogging better. This is necessary because climate change is making weather conditions more extreme. With support from Rijkswaterstaat, the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, and the Delta Program Freshwater, we are improving water management with this new pump and supporting biodiversity.
